Phil and Kathleen's Engagement Session - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

We met up with Phil and Kathleen at Washington Lake Park in Washington Township this past Saturday.  I've been there a few times to see my nephews play baseball but I had no idea that the rest of the park was so beautiful.  We stopped by the night before just to scout it out a little bit and found four turkeys roosted at the beginning of the trail.  Ruth was happy, at least there were no snakes!

Phil and Kathleen are such a fun crazy couple, I know we are going to have a great time shooting their wedding the end of the month.

Enjoy!

 You've gotta love the boots!

What you can't see in the picture is that one of my son's friends is falling in a swamp right behind me.  Phil wasn't distracted though, I don't think he could take his eyes off of Kathleen the whole day!

What's all the excitement about?  Look in the lower right of the picture just
above the "h" in my logo and you'll see.

The "Killer Caterpillar"

 Phil is buying this one!

and this one,

and a poster of this one!

Time is running out for The Art of Marriage Conference - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

The older I get the more bold I get.  If Ruth and I are out and see a older couple, I will often ask them how long they've been married and how to they make it last so long.  Most of them tell me "it's hard work but it's worth it".  There are a lot of things I enjoy in life but one of the greatest thing for my kids and me to see is a silver haired couple acting like a couple of newlyweds.  I want my kids to see that there is more to that just being married "x" number of years.

I believe a long lasting, successful marriage is made up of several different things but I think a good start is running toward God together and doing what you can to please your spouse.

Take a listen to some of this advice.

Time is running out for registration to "The Art of Marriage" conference at Southwood Baptist Church in West Deptford, NJ on Friday, October 7 - Saturday, October 8, 2011.

After you register, email the church at mail@southwoodministries.org and type "AOM Promo Code" in the subject line.  In the body put your name and promo code "WEH PHOTO" and you'll receive a $10 discount.

The Art of Marriage Conference - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

If you've ever met Ruth and I, I hope you quickly saw how we feel about marriage.  It's not only major part of our business but more importantly it is special union created and blessed by God.  We've learned, through experience that great marriages don't just happen, they take work; sometimes really hard work, but it truly is worth it.

We will be helping with "The Art of Marriage" conference at Southwood Baptist Church in West Deptford, NJ on Friday, October 7 - Saturday, October 8, 2011.  We hosted one at our home church of Blessed Hope Community Church on Valentine's Day Weekend and it was great.  We're really excited about this.

The conference is for anyone who is married with problems, married with a great relationship, newly-weds, oldy-weds, and engaged couples.  In other words anyone who is married or thinking of getting married.  I would encourage everyone to attend this.  If you've ever been to a marriage conference you know that some can be very expensive, this is very affordable at only $35 per couple.  By the way, after almost 22 years of marriage I have found the fool proof way to have a successful marriage.  Come out and I'll share it with you.

After you register, email the church at mail@southwoodministries.org and type "AOM Promo Code" in the subject line.  In the body put your name and promo code "WEH PHOTO" and you'll receive a $10 discount.

"C" Senior Portraits - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

"S", who we did Senior Portraits for a few weeks ago ("S" Blog Post), called the other night and asked us if we could do Senior Portraits for a friend of hers.  The only problem was we had to do them the next day.

We met up with "C" and had a lot of fun outside and even had some fun with the standard shots.  "S" came along as well for moral support and just to keep us laughing.

Doesn't "C" have a gorgeous smile?

"S" was gracious enough to climb the wall for us to hold a reflector.

Thanks again "S"!

The Art of Marriage Conference - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

As friends and clients you probably already know a little about the Art of Marriage conference that we are hosting at our church on February 11th & 12th.  It seems some people got the wrong impression.  Some thought that this was only for couples that had marriages in trouble.  Believe me it's not.  If your married or engaged to be married, it's for you.  For $35 per couple you can't beat it!  We even have door prizes.

The conference will hit several topics including:
  • Session 1:  love happens  (purpose of marriage)

  • Session 2:  love fades  (drift to isolation)

  • Session 3:  love dances (roles)

  • Session 4:  love interrupted  (communication)

  • Session 5:  love sizzles  (romance and sex)

  • Session 6:  love always  (legacy)

Now be honest, isn't there at least one of these topics you feel your marriage could improve on?  Ruth and I have been married for 21 years and we found great info here.

Remember, early registration is only $35 until January 16th.  Registration will then be $45 from January 17th-30th.  If you know of anyone else that would be interested, please pass it on.

Registration is easy, just click the link below.

Guys only! What do you think your wife will say if you tell her you want to take her to a marriage conference to improve your relationship?  Do you really have to think about this?  Come on it's even Valentine's Day weekend!

We're On National TV - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

We're on national TV, sort-of.  On September 11th, we shot Hakim and Kyera's Wedding.  At their Engagement Session they told us that they had been chosen to be on TLC's "Four Weddings" show.  Because of it being a reality show we weren't allowed to tell anyone until it was announced on the TLC site.

Well, the Gloucester County Times ran the story this morning, 10/21/10 Section B, and TLC is running a preview of the show.  Watch the preview here.  Hakim and Kyera are the first couple on the preview.  All the pictures they are putting in frames are from their Engagement Session.  They put them on all of the tables as decoration.  Thanks for the free advertising.

The show airs Friday, 10/22/10, at 10pm est.

Click here to pre-register for Hakim and Kyera’s Wedding Gallery.

Introducing, Zeke the Zucchini

So, what do photographers do when they're bored? What else, have a portrait session!

We we're given a very large zucchini by a good friend the other day. When Ruth started to cut it up for dinner it was bad inside. My 12 year old son asked if he could have it. That's when Zeke the Zucchini was born. Can you tell we like the Veggie Tales?

I'm promised him I would take a picture of it but I forgot until 12:30am. So, then we break out the camera, then the reflectors, then we just got silly. I remembered some green lights we had gotten from a wedding and stuck it inside, then the fun loving Zeke was transformed into Zeke-0-lantern.

Brian & Jen's Engagement - Southern NJ and Philadelphia Wedding & Portrait Photographer

What a weekend! 2 Engagement Sessions, 1 Album delivery, and 1 family birthday party. What a weekend!

We met up with Brian and Jen in the late morning. Brian kindly offered to drive all of us. When he open his trunk to put my gear in it brought back all the memories. What memories? Ruth and I were youth pastors in our church before God blessed us with our 5 kids. Seeing Brian's trunk reminded me of how important that job is. On one side was a stack of Bibles and on the other was sports equipment. Brian and Jen are the youth pastors at their church. The stress of working with teens can be high but the rewards can be much higher.

Brian and Jen love the city, so naturally they wanted to take their Engagement Session to Philly. Old City, City Hall, Penn's Landing; we were all over the place. Ruth asked where my favorite place was, I'm still not sure. The hardest thing was trying to find a parking space near 12th & Chestnut. Who knew there would be 2 different cranes blocking traffic. Oh well, I needed the walk.

One of the best part of being a wedding photographer is meeting with these great, young couples and hearing their dreams. I know God is going to use this couple for something great.

Please enjoy the pictures and slideshow below.
