Aziz and Tori's Engagement Session - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

Last Sunday, Ruth and I spend the afternoon in Old City Philadelphia with Aziz and Tori.  We didn't think it was going to happen because the weather forecast was for heavy rain most of the day.  It sprinkled a few times but it waited until we were driving home to finally start to rain, God provides again.

We love Engagement Sessions.  it's our time to get to know one another better so we can cover the couple's Wedding Day better.  I learned that Aziz agrees with me that coffee is brown, bitter, water and that Tori and Ruth both put their ice cream in the microwave.  I just don't get it.

Tori picked Old City for their session because she is a history teacher and she just loves the buildings and the history that happened on those streets.

We started out at Elfreth's Alley, America's oldest residential street.

Then we went walking.  One of these days I'm going to buy a pedometer to find out how much walking we do on a E-Session.

We found this cool alley off of Arch.

Then we stopped off at the Betsy Ross House but they were closing so we were on there a few minutes.  Then over to Christ Church.

Independence Hall was closing when we arrived so we could only go in the court yard.  I can't go to Independence Hall without thinking of the movie "National Treasure", one of my favorites.

Since Ruth and I both shoot we can get pictures like these.  There is 3/100 of a second difference between my first shot and Ruth's second shot.

The street lights were just coming on but it was still light.  So we took a few test shots, grabbed a second flash and turned day into night.

We were having such a good time I didn't realize what time it was.  So it was time for the walk back to the van, stopping at few more places along the way.

Tori has the most gorgeous eyes.

We can't wait for your Wedding!

Tea Bag Counseling - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

Sometimes Words of Wisdom come in the strangest places.  I drink way too much ice tea, so Ruth tries to stock up anytime tea bags are on sale.  She's been getting Salada Tea recently.  What's cool about Salada tea bags is the little paper tag always has a saying or joke on them.  This is what I found this morning when I was making tea.

I love it!  What sage advice from a tea bag.  Ruth and I have been married over 20 years and I learned to take good marriage advice anywhere I can get it.  If you looking for more sound advice try these few books.  Ruth and I have read them and they have some great wisdom.  Maybe that's why we're more in love now then when we got married.

A successful marriage is so much more than what my HS Bible teacher, Tom Allen, used to call "a quiver in your liver".  It's putting someone else's needs in front on your own.  Just think, if you are concentrating so much on meeting your spouse's needs it will be almost impossible, no make that IMPOSSIBLE, to fall out of love.

Little Miss K - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

Last Sunday we met up with Miss K and her mom.  She is just the cutest little girl.  We first met her when we shot her Uncle Brian and Aunt Jen's Wedding last year.  Here's what she looked like the with Uncle Brian.  Look how tiny.  If my math is right she is about 2 months old here.

This time we were meeting to shot Miss K's 1st birthday.  Well, it was actually 1 year and a few days.

We met her at home and she got to show us how well she climbs her steps.

Then she took us to her room to show off all of her stuffed animals.

Sorry, I just pass up baby feet.  I couldn't help but take advantage of the great window light.  And she just loved playing with the blinds.

We packed up and went to the park.  We went back to Red Bank Battlefield Park in National Park.  I just love that place, and it was such a beautiful day.  Miss K wasn't to sure about the grass though.  When mom took her shoes off she kept picking her feet up off of the grass.  The trees were just starting to blossom, so there was even a little color in the background.

Yes, I got the feet again.

If you read Dennis and Sarah's Engagement post last week you'll know I was a little bummed that I didn't get to the Whital House.  This week we got a few shots there.  It was nice to let Miss K to get out of the sun for awhile.

Miss K was starting to get a little tired so mommy jumped in to do what only mommies can do.

At the end of the day she showed us how she can walk.

Dennis and Sarah's Engagement Session - New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA area Wedding & Portrait Photographers

We got to spend some time with Dennis and Sarah at Red Bank Battlefield Park.  It's a great place to take pictures, although it was a little chilly the day we went.  We spent a little time up the hill where there is a monument marking where the Fort Mercer was.

We didn't get a chance to get to the Whitall House this time.  I could go on and on about this place because I love Revolutionary War history.
The lower part of the park edges the Delaware River.  Dennis used to go out to Rat Island a lot when he was a kid.

Ruth and I had to really rush towards the end.  Dennis and Sarah's bridesmaids had planned her bridal shower for the same day.  We told Sarah we were going to take her to another location for more pictures, and yes that's where the shower was.  We got there just ahead of them in time for a few pictures.
